Oh hello beautiful! Meet the most beautiful bloom on the planet. Ok, you'll hear us say that about many flowers but there are so many that steal our hearts!

This month we relish in the most fascinating bloom that casts it's spell upon us every season, the dahlia.

With over a thousand types to choose from, the abundance of dahlias in our flower farms brings joy to our hearts. We source ours mainly locally at Rustic Acre Farms, Eleven Acres Farm, Urban Farm Girl and if you're lucky enough to grow dahlias for yourself, you'll appreciate the hard work and time it takes to grow this cut flower, purely for it's striking beauty and vivacious color palette, oh and not forgetting the names...Strawberry ice, summer rain, cafe au lait anyone?!

Dahlias are one of the most beloved summer flowers worldwide. Symbolizing commitment and everlasting union for weddings, they also represent inner strength, creativity and elegance.

Originating from Mexico, the Dahlia pinnata is the national flower and whilst we now have over a thousand different varieties and species of Dahlia, there are no true blue dahlias, rather a sunset of reds, pinks, purples, yellows, and whites.

The summer season for Dahlias maybe short here in BC. so let’s squeeze every moment out of their enjoyment, with market bunches and bouquets bursting with these beauties all August long at the store.
